Why Should I Dance?
There are many reasons that people dance. Here are a few reasons – read this and then post some of your own.
For some reason, dancing tends to be thought of as being a pastime mainly for women despite the fact that many a famous male dancer has appeared on stage and screen. I mean how often do you hear men saying they are going to a club to dance. The usual reasons given are that they are going to pick-up a girl, going for a drink; anything but admitting that they want to dance for fear of others perceiving them as being gay. This is a great shame for dancing holds a great many benefits for both men and women alike, such as: -
Entertainment Value
As well as being great nights entertainment to watch professional dancers you can also derive great enjoyment through participating in any number of different types of dances such as Ballroom dancing, country dancing, disco dancing, etc.
Greater Romantic Opportunities
What better way is there to meet and get to know that special someone alone than to invite them than on to the dance floor for a slow waltz or a sexy rumba. For married or longer standing couples the intimacy that comes with dancing together can help put back or maintain that spark they shared when their relationship was in its infancy.
Friendship
Through regular dancing you will keep meeting familiar faces who you will come to know as friends by virtue of your shared interests.
Health and Fitness
Dancing is a fun form of aerobic exercising which help you burn of excess calories (up to 400 calories an hour) and strengthen the muscles without you even realizing it. It is also great for the heart as it helps improves circulation and lowering blood pressure reducing the possibility of heart disease.
Improved Posture and Balance
As you become more experienced you will learn more intricate dance routines which will help tone your muscles and improve your physique as you master greater bodily control over your co-ordination and timing skills.
Building Confidence
Through building on the above benefits, the sense of achievement you will attain can only help to build up your confidence and feelings of self worth. Regular exercise also increases the number of mood enhancing endorphins produced by your body making you feel happier.
